Going into the all-star break, the cubs were a below .500, team at 43-45 and losers of 2 in a row. They trailered the Milwaukee brewer by 5/12 games. the largest deficit of the season, and had regressed in every phase of the game. The lone bright spot was their bullpen and closer Wade Davis, who was the teams sole all-star player. After the all-star break the cubs went on run, by sweeping the Baltimore Oriels and the Atlanta Braves and outscoring them 44-17. The cubs took two out of three from the St Louis Cardinal and are now tied with the Brewers fro first place in the National league central. Things are looking up for the Cubs, let’s see if they keep it going.
